Enchanted Forest

After a short 12hour stop at London, I caught a Ryan Air flight to Prestwick, Scotland.

Reason why I am up in Scotland is because I have family here. Reason why i had to be up in Scotland so quickly is because they wanted to take me to the Enchanted Forest.

When i mentioned to my friends, many associated it with the movie Enchanted.

Well, it was and it wasn't.

Its located Northwest area of Scotland, in a place called Pitlochry. Was about 2 hours 30mins away from where I am in Cumnock.

Basically we went into a forest at night, and some of the trees are lit up, and there's speakers all around playing music, or sound effects - like a horse galloping, witch cackling (because is was Halloween), there are life like statues all around... Makes it feel like the forest is alive.

(a mermaid lures fishermen to their deaths)

So you arrive at the entrance of the woods and a man in costume welcomes you and you start your walk . The theme this year was Scotland (last year it was a sci-fi theme with UFO's) and all around there were stops with Scots history or myth.

There was life-like sets, for example one was a man sitting in a cave or in a tavern, another was a dragon breathing fire. Audio stories accompany each set, explaining the history or story of the scene.

The ones i loved the most were the light displays on the lake where they used a projector to project images not onto the water surface in a 2D way, but up above the water 3D way, so it looks like a hologram hovering/coming up out of the water.
That was really pretty.

(L: a horse rising up out of the water, R: the Loch Ness Monster)

The forest is not completely lit up, just here and there to provide enough light and cast shadows as you walk. There was also a witch that jumped out and asked riddles, she only let you pass if you get it right - What gets bigger the more you take away?

Since it was at 9pm it was really, really cold, though the misty air added to the effects which was good.

I didn't manage to take many pictures cause
1. my camera isn't very good at night
2. i was more focused on watching and experiencing the event
3. its hard to snap while wearing thick gloves!

So pictures are thanks to Aunty Margaret.
