Longing

They can know you inside out
And not know who you are

They can grasp the meaning of your words
And not understand how you feel

They can make you so happy
And break your heart slowly

They can cause your blood to boil
And turn their eyes away

They can cut deep with tongues
And move on without realizing

They can remember bad experiences
And forget the helping hands

They can be standing looking right at you
And not see you at all

They can smile in front of you
And talk behind you

They can demand your loyalty
And show no appreciation

Who are these people?

These are my friends.

They can randomly call for a chat
And 15minutes lasts a week

They can sense when there is a need
And provide generously without thought

They can avoid talking about it
And make effort to cheer you up

They can be themselves
And let me be myself

They can be there through your worst
And still want to be there after

They will do the opposite of their likes
And hide it to make it your day

They can tell when to be by your side
And know when to leave you alone

They will ask you where you are
And you know they treasure you

They have seen you stripped naked
And still call you beautiful

I miss you my friends.

The Wrong Shade of Yellow

Oh no, its happened.

My grandmother has jumped on the bandwagon of asking the usual CNY question-

"So, got boyfriend or not?"

All this time she's been telling me there's no need to think about such things, finish your studies first...

Amazingly the first CNY after I graduate she starts with the questions.

But what saddens me is when she said, "Make sure you find a Chinese guy..."

When she said that I had to just grin and change topic, but I was affected by it because, what does that actually mean?

Coming from mixed parentage, it hurts more when people specify what particular race 'should' be got, for what does that say about the other half of me? Can't they see, in me, that it doesn't matter? Or did I not turn out right enough for this 'race'.

With me as the product of an interracial marriage, this living example seems to have failed.

Sometimes I feel like an outcast.

Mixed blood.

I grieve for the part of Me, brushed aside and ignored.

Even by Me.

Gazelle 365 - Part 1

This is a Gazelle,

Not to be confused with,

Anyway, recently I've been introduced to another kind of Gazelle which looks like this,

*Ahhhhhhhhhhh!*

This new running shoe which Adidas gave birth to is specifically designed for Women (or men with feminine feet) and the first thing that caught my eye was the colour.

It is blue. It is very blue.

And the first thing the Adidas rep told me was, "Don't be distracted by the colour!"

I wasn't... really!

The second thing about this shoe is it is VERY light.

Gazelle's have to be light so that they can prance around cutely for leisure, as well as sprint to avoid being ripped to pieces by lions.

I like light shoes because when I run, already I'm carrying my own bulky weight, the last thing I want is to be dragged down my my own shoes.

The material used has two purposes - to keep the shoe light and to let feet breathe.

The shoes are covered in honeycomb shaped holes and a holey inner mesh, holey insole, holey sole... Basically if I looked through the shoe, I can see you on the other side. Sounds weird but its good because it provides ventilation everywhere.

Instead of just calling it holes, Adidas has a patented name for it, ClimaCool®

Which to me;
1. Lets my foot and others breathe too cause feet wont be so smelly. (very important)
2. Can use it in all weathers, cause it will dry fast. (good cause been rainy lately)
3. Foot will not overheat. (like a car engine, even feet need cooling down)

Don't get me wrong, just cause it's light doesn't mean its 'weak'. When I used them, besides the comfort (I tried another pair but that pair felt like a clingy girlfriend) its steady and solid.

Did you know that feet have different, er, levels - flat feet, normal arch, high arch.

Thanks to Mr. Krishnan pinching and poking my foot, the conclusion is that I have a higher than normal arch. This means I need shoes where the middle part of the sole can support the arch of my foot.

My Gazelle's have a TORSION SYSTEM® , a lightweight arch support that allows the front and back of my foot to move freely, and gives better surface adaptation and stability.
I must do more research on this because I usually pick shoes based on 2 things - budget and look. Fancy-shmancy stuff like this is beyond me, and its quite scary when I need an engineer to make me understand my running shoes.

Runners usually suffer painful feet and knees because of the impact when foot hits the ground. This shoe has adiPRENE®, a shock-absorbing material that provides extra protection from harmful impact forces with additional cushioning.

Well, to be honest I can't fully tell yet because they still give me the new shoes feeling, and I'm breaking them in. In time I should be able to better tell if my feet and knees are treated better, especially since I run on the roads, not a proper running track so this feature is of great importance if I still want to have strong knees when I'm 58.

More on how the adiSTUFF helps my runs soon.

Oh yeah, most importantly - this particular pair is called
Gazelle 365
,
because it can be used all year round,

and it wont wear out.

Con Job

No, I dont!

The past few days some people have been telling me that I have a Facebook account, which puzzed me because I dont. Let me state clearly that I do NOT have, own, or manage a FB account.

Either its someone else with the same name, or it is a fake account so please don't be conned and 'delete' that person from the list.

If I ever get a FB account, I'd blog about it.

Evasive

  1. tending or seeking to evade; not straightforward; tricky; equivocal
  2. hard to catch, grasp, etc.; elusive

We all are at some point. We all have our reasons.

But isn't it oh so irritating when a friend is being evasive with you, over non-'life threatening' matters?
(inspired by recent evasions, plural)

There are many levels of it. I have friends who are just like that, who will not (for goodness knows what reason) answer simple questions -

Me: Where you going?
C: Out.
Me: For lunch isit?
C: Yeah.
Me: Who you going with?
C: Friends

... and so on, which is why once I figure out they are that kind, I just don't bother anymore. Its very tiring to have to pry simple things like the above, out of such people.

Then there are those that are not like that so it becomes even more obvious when they're dodging something -

Me: Eh? Did you use my computer?
P: Hmmm? Mmmmm... Yeah.
Me: Why'd you use my computer?
P: I logged you out of your email account.
Me: Huh? Why on earth would you do that?
P: Because you weren't around so I thought I'd help you do it...
Me: But you've never done it before, and my com is always left logged in.
P: Welllll, I just wanted to la. Why you asking so many questions? I cannot help you isit?

... so I left it at that, knowing obviously my friend is not being straight with me and was hiding something.

Which is why its funny that in the past few days, after asking Q something, its been near impossible to get an answer. Where once we had no problem chatting online, suddenly whenever I chat, it so happens that Q has to go out/busy/never replies/away. Okay, internet method didn't work, so I sent an sms. Q has always replied my sms's. This time though - Nada.
Unusual.

Its okay if you don't wanna answer my question, but at least just tell me so directly.

Don't try and dodge, dodge, dodge.

Very funny la you.

=p

PS: This is meant for you but not only you but other you's out there...

PPS: And I'm sure you see the irony if you have read this whole post, but are too busy to reply me... *wink* I'm just teasing. Hehehe...

Click click click

This afternoon was my church's AGM and Anniversary.

There was a nice simple ceremony and at the end of it certain members of the church were called up on stage to cut a cake.

I'm sure it was a lovely moment, but guess what - I didn't get to see it happen.

Thanks to the annoying flies, carrying big black cameras which totally blocked my view, and many other people's views as well. Standing all around and in front of the cake.
Wow, real smart guys...

I'm getting more and more annoyed at the inconsideration of such people, who just stand directly in front of the main focus, click click click. Its not even for a short while, the block is constant, as if every single movement must be captured. Just cause you have a big black camera it does not give you the right to block my view.

Even worse are those who are taking pictures for their own personal use.

I can't stand it when there's already an appointed official photographer, but others all go and make the situation worse by confusing people. Hello - you're not needed. I repeat, not needed.

Think of other people for goodness sake.

The last thing we want to see are your backs as you snap away.

So the next time you wanna take a picture, use some brains and consideration and sit down.
