Miracles do happen

.
Here's a little story that redeemed my faith in society. Not that it was gone completely, just went away for a bit. Yes, I do believe everyone has goodness in them. No matter how terrible or evil, there is some goodness deep down somewhere.

The Red Wallet

There was this girl, and for some reason on a particular day she was unusually careless. She had gone to her office toilet, and accidentally left her wallet in there. She only realized it was missing when she was leaving for the day, 4hours later. She asked everyone around, but no one had seen it. Resigned to the fact that it had been stolen, she went to the company's security department to make a report.

Dragging her feet, she left to go home.

When she was leaving, a guard at the guard house recognized her and told her that someone had found and given in her wallet. The money was missing, but all the important stuff was still there.

Sure, she was sad that the RM70 (which was supposed to last till the end of the month) was gone, but she was ecstatic to get the cards all back safe- she wouldn't have to go through the difficulty of having to cancel everything, make a police report, and reapply for all her cards.

She walked back with a spring in her step, and a smile on her face.

A few hours later, she went to the cinema to watch a midnight movie. She had a party on earlier, and when she left, she was rushing for the show. When she arrived, she went to the toilet before going into the cinema, and in her haste, yes would you believe it, she left her wallet in the toilet again.

As soon as she got to her seat in the dark cinema, it clicked - @#!% Her wallet! She dashed out and ran up the steps, heart beating madly, her brain thumping, "Not again, not again..." Bursting into the toilet, she darted straight to where she had set it, hoping to see it there- but this is not a fairytale, it was gone. Within the 5-10minutes of leaving the toilet, someone had taken it.

She immediately informed the Cinema staff and left her contact number, talked to the cleaners, looked in the nearest rubbish bins... In her mind she knew, it was gone. You don't get second chances for things like this. She was so, so pissed with herself for being so stupid, "Twice in one day! How can I lose my wallet in the exact same way, twice in one day! You were taught your lesson a few hours ago- looks like you didn't learn."

Her concerned friend stood next to her. She told her friend to go on in to watch the movie, there was nothing more she could do and the last thing she wanted was her friend to miss the show.

After a kind, sympathetic call centre guy canceled her credit card, she went in to watch the movie. What else was she to do? It was midnight. Her wallet was gone, again. Obviously she could not focus on the show and as the screen moved from scene to scene, her mind was bashing herself up.

Once she got out, she had to borrow money for parking and she drove home alone.

The next day was a sour one for her. She made a police report. As much as she acknowledged it was totally her stupid fault, she couldn't help wondering, why couldn't a good person have found it? Are there really that many bad people, and so few good ones?

The weekend passed, Monday morning came. She woke up early to go make her new IC and drivers license. She went to work.

Lunch time came, she went out for food. She tried to push it out her mind so she could enjoy the meal with her friends. Halfway through, she got a call from her mom.

"There's someone on the phone that wants to speak to you..."

"Hi, my name is Ima. I found your wallet, I'm at your house now to return it."

Oh. My. God.

She was so stunned she didn't know what to say except repeat her thanks over and over. Turns out Ima herself had her wallet stolen and knew what it felt like, so when she saw the wallet in the toilet, she took it so she could return it. She couldn't do it over the weekend but came when she was free.

Unbelievable.

She still hasn't digested just how lucky [blessed] she was, she just can't seem to process it.

Miracles do happen.

-end-

Now wasn't that a nice story...

=)

Gingko biloba & 20 slaps ought to fix that permanently.

Well, I was running in my taman a few months back and came across a purse. I checked the contents after the run and found Rm160 and 2ICs in it, one being an 18 year old tudung girl and a 19 year old guy. Drove to the house of the girl (since it was a purse) and asked for her. The girl wasn't home, so I had to pop quiz the mom about the contents. Found out... the girl was married to that dude and they have a 2 year old kid.

What did i get in return for this favour?

First -
Only a casual 'thanks ah' (to my surprise..cause something like that causes more joyous emotional discharge) and some ramblings from the mother saying her daughter was very careless.

Second -
Morality is seriously lost in many kids today. Yes.. people need the Lord.

PS: To the guy who picked up my wallet years ago when I was Std.6. I'm still waiting for it till today (17yrs and counting). :)

I remember finding a dropped handphone once.

Boy did the lady give me one heck of a joyous emotional discharge....
