Insecurities

There once was a girl who looked out the window
She saw the beautiful flowers growing below
The bright blue skies, the lush green soft grass
And more treasures she saw as she let the time pass

She ran out skipping and jumping with glee
Stopping to peer at a snail and a tree
Bumble bees buzzing, collecting their food
Oh if only each day she could be in this mood!

She suddenly stopped when she felt It was there
Surprised that It gave her an unpleasant scare
Never did she know this about her own being
Abruptly she turned and ran back fleeing

Locked and alone in her room she's safe
Though sometimes creeps to the mirror to face
The ugly scar that runs along down her cheek
Wishing, O wishing that she wasn't so weak

Yet what does she do about what she knows
Remains in the quiet, obliging It as It grows
The cat's dead, but in her mind she pretended
Believing the new to be the old she befriended

The girl who sits and looks out the window
Is afraid of moving in case she must show
Her scar to the World that cannot understand
Why the scar was put there by her own hand.
