Another one bites the dust
I can't believe it.
They are demolishing Pudu Jail.
I fail to understand how other countries strive to preserve national landmarks and history, Malaysia tears it down. As if a 114 year old building is a dime a dozen.
What sickens me most is this:
“The remainder of the jail site will be used by UDA to construct a mix-development shopping mall/residential buildings, something similar to Berjaya Times Square,” said Sudirman Kamal, an engineer from Khairi Consult Sdn Bhd, an engineering consultancy firm.
Just what we need.
ANOTHER Berjaya Times Square, a stone throw away from the existing one.
What fool thinks a shopping mall can replace more than a century's worth of history?
Obviously the ones who stand to reap financial gain. Who else...
You know, when I think about where to bring tourists in KL, there really is not that much the city has to offer. Which is why I thought it was great when Pudu Jail was open to the public. I went when I was a young teenager and was facinated by the prison cells, paintings, stories and amazed to be where many had once lived and died.
Such a shame how things of great value can be destroyed so easily.
Malaysia Boleh!

datara pahlawan in melaka- the place where malaysia was declared independent? its now a shopping mall. don u just love our country..
Obi - Hahaha, no la. I can't possibly, because Kevin was so the opposite of those who joke about it being 'ball and chain'.
Jess - So dumb. So sayang. How are the future generations supposed to 'feel' anything for historic events if all thats left of it is a shopping mall?
Oh! Btw our pictures are up on LSCM website!
